The Conservation & Planning Group, on behalf of the Civic Society, have objected to this application on the grounds of noise pollution, increased traffic and compliance with previous conditions of approval.

Our letter text is as follows:

CLEVEDON CIVIC SOCIETY.

Dear Sir/Madam,

APPLICATION 19/P/2503/FUL. Detached single storey children's day nursery building at 18 The Avenue, Clevedon.

The Civic Society OBJECTS to the above application because it does not comply with Policy DM32, ”high quality design and place making” for the following reasons;

 If allowed this nursery will generate considerable additional vehicle movements in a quiet residential area by parents and members of staff. In addition the three on site staff parking spaces displace the car parking for the existing house onto the road.

 The nursery will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. five days a week, so in addition to the traffic issues there will also be noise pollution from the external play all of which will adversely affect the amenity of the adjoining residents.

 Reference is made to providing several meals every day. It is not clear where these meals will be prepared, as there is no kitchen in the proposed building, but the surrounding residents are bound to suffer adverse effects from smells, waste storage and disposal issues generated by catering on this scale in a residential area.

We support the many letters of objection from surrounding residents, and particularly refer to the previous approval 16/P/1099/F, a condition of which is that the building should be used for domestic and residential purposes only to satisfy Policy CS3.

Therefore we request that North Somerset Council REFUSES this application.

Yours Faithfully,
Clevedon Civic Society.
