Eleven walkers set off on a 3.5 mile walk starting and finishing at the Blue Bowl PH on the outskirts of West Harptree.

The circular route via grassy meadows and country lanes took in the picturesque village of Compton Martin. There the activities of a lone cormorant diving in the local pond directed attention away from engineers dealing with a burst water main on the main road.

Rain clouds threatened to spoil the day but apart from a very brief shower the party was able to remain dry returning for an enjoyable pub lunch.
