Mobirise

Wednesday 9 March 2022

Redland and Clifton

There were 12 people who attended the walk.

We started from Long Ashton park & ride where we caught the 505 bus to the top of Blackboy Hill.

Our first stop was at the WW2 convalescence shelter the famous iron mens toilet and the marble washbasins. We then meandered through the back streets looking at:
The first eco house in England, a house studio where metal animals are soldered onto the garden fence, Clifton railway station, Alma Vale Theatre Tavern.

We then went inside the grade II listed Roman Catholic Cathedral, moved on to a coffee shop in Clifton, then through the arch leading us to the famous “Bird Cage Walk’ burial ground with lovely views across Bristol.

Through the back roads we walked on to Brandon Hill with the gardens and more views, walked down to Millennium Square had lunch and caught the bus back to the park & ride.
