Having placed an order for lunch 10 walkers and one dog set off from The Black Horse for a 4mile walk in the Clapton in Gordano area.

Using some of the route published in “The Gordano Round” booklet the walk took in good views across Portishead to the Welsh coast before turning inland to skirt Noah's Ark Zoo with unexpected sightings of rhino and elephant.

Other notable places along the way included the Downs School with its well tended playing field and the peaceful setting of the children's hospice at Charlton Farm.

Awaiting return was a very cosy atmosphere and a tasty lunch back at the Black Horse.
