Bishop's Castle
Twelve of us did a circular walk whilst we left the other three in town to sus out the best coffee shop.
This was a very rural walk with fields of cows, a large bull and sheep. Coming back into Bishop's Castle views of the Long Mynd opened up. Many stiles tested our knees. The weather and trees were autumnal.
Then we all met for a drink and to exchange notes on our day.
Walk length 4.8miles
Elevation 623 feet

The town trio investigated the town, and finding all the listed cafes closed on Sunday, found a boutique coffee house in a bookshop dedicated to poetry and verse.
However, this one stopped serving before the walkers returned to town, so the one just up the hill in a second-hand book and classical music CD shop was invaded instead.
The town celebrated the 'Elephant Parades' put on during WWII by a circus housed nearby for the duration, hence the elephant motifs seen on the brightly coloured buildings up and down the main streets.
