Tickenham and Cadbury Camp

This walk is adapted from the loop walk 4, The Nailsea Round published by Nailsea and District Footpath Group.

We reduced the length a little by starting from Tickenham Church and walked across buttercup- rich meadows with the occasional orchid. We soon reached the foot of the Cadbury Camp hill with a sharp incline of 330ft, 100m. The views at the top, across the Gordano valley and moor to Clevedon, are worth the climb.

We then had different views to admire as we marched along Somerset’s millionaire’s row, Cadbury Camp Lane. Several houses were having face-lifts or more extensive treatments which sparked conversations about how we would spend our millions.

Gradually, we walked down towards the valley again but encountered problems as the footpath had been closed because of the construction of giant pylons. There had been no notices warning of this earlier but fortunately we were able to access a footpath higher up the hill and so finished our walk with little extra mileage. Total 4.25 miles.

As with many of our walks we celebrated our achievement at a local pub, meeting a couple of non-walkers and enjoyed a splendid lunch.
