Uphill

Some like it hot! It was probably the hottest day of the walking year but, never mind, there were 11 of us who set off to enjoy the stunning views in Uphill.

We made our way through the Plantation woodland, across the golf course to emerge on to the beach with fabulous views of Brean Down.

After a short time we arrived at The Boathouse for refreshments and then reluctantly carried on walking past the ancient limekilns to the nature reserve. The path is shared with cyclists but we co-existed happily as everyone was in a good mood!

The path led us back along the River Axe to The Boathouse where we lunched. During this time several walkers advised the leader not to finish the planned walk to St Nicholas Church as it involved a steep climb so we took the flat route past a lovely art deco house back to the cars.

I was not surprised to see my car temperature was 30C. A hot walk but splendid views and tasty lunch!
