Numbers fluctuated for this walk but on the day there were 12 participants, including Dylan the dog, who really was the star of the show.
It was been a beautiful balmy Autumn day today, although rain threatened first thing. This was a fairly uneventful and relaxed excursion. My efforts to reduce our group to a more manageable size also proved fruitless!
The water was calm but disappointingly free of migratory birds. Many ducks and coots, a couple of grebes (Western?) - Carol we really missed your ornithological skills - and some cormorants. We enjoyed lots of chat and beautiful views across open countryside, boasting fast developing autumn colours.
Lunch at The Lamb in the town square, Axbridge, with a delicious and interesting menu, and very friendly atmosphere. Full marks.
Thank you all for coming and for being such a jolly bunch. About 4 miles.
