A walk around Bath 4 miles, 14 walkers
‘The pleasure of walking and breathing fresh air is enough for me, and in fine weather I am out more than half my time’. So spoke Jane Austin 250 years ago and we were able to enjoy the sights of Bath that she knew so well.
Storm Bert had caused flooding in much of the area and we saw the result from the train and later along the river Avon which was very fast flowing. Fortunately our planned walk was in bright weather and so we were able to climb Bathwick Fields and enjoy the view.
This is a circular walk along Georgian streets, Sydney gardens, where high society enjoyed concerts in Georgian England, and the Kennet and Avon canal where fashionable residents had concerns about the impact of a working canal on the local character!
We enjoyed coffee at the Holburne Museum and a lunch of pies before our return .
