Bristol Bridges Part 2

4 walkers took on this part of the challenge of walking the 45 walkable bridges of Bristol. This walk took in the central part of Bristol between Bedminster and Baldwin Street, via Temple Meads, St. Philips and Temple Gate.

Referring to the map in the first image below, the bridges encountered were as follows:

24. Bedminster Bridge East
23. Langton Street “Banana” Bridge [closed for examination and repairs]
7 & 8. Bath Bridge West & East
11. Temple Meads Relief Line Bridge
10. St. Philips Footbridge [Open, but no access to other bank]
9. Brock’s Bridge [Not open]
6. Meads Reach “Cheesegrater” Bridge
5. Valentine’s Bridge
4. Temple Bridge
3. Castle Ditch Bridge
2. St. Philips Bridge
45. Castle Bridge
1. Bristol Bridge

While a relatively short walk at 3.3 miles, there was a lot of history to learn and various discussions regarding the architectural merit, or otherwise, of the various bridges and other structures encountered on the way. These made for a most interesting walk, after which we retired to the Fish Market (pub) in Baldwin Street for lunch.
