In the late 1980s all of the town’s Victorian drinking fountains were repaired and restored.
At about the same time the new garden and seating area at Spray Point, known as the Peace Memorial Garden, was formed.
In the last few years the Victorian shelter on the sea front has been restored.
New features created during that period were the circular seat at the start of Poets Walk, the entrance feature to Salthouse Fields, the tree and seat in Elton Road and the gazebo rose arch in Alexandra Gardens in memory of Lady Elton, a Past President of the Society.
